Dirty Nose aka Callie

I wanted to post this here before I put it on my other blog.  Last night when I went out to feed I found my little Dirty Nose dead in the stall.  I don't know what happened, but it was such a sad thing.  She has been with us forever it seems and is always there to greet me with her soft meow.  I saw her and petted her for a minute yesterday morning, so it happened sometime during the day.  I wrapped her up in a towel and sadly buried her up under the pine trees close to the barn.  I covered her grave with heavy stepping stones and a big watering tank to keep the coyotes away so she can be at peace.  I know dying is an inevitable part of life and that pets don't last forever, but it is always a shot to the heart and a loss to the overall balance of life when one leaves for better hunting grounds.  She will certainly be missed but I keep thinking that she is walking through tall grass, hunting for field mice, with Booner watching over her as he does all the other critters that have gone on before.
Two babies from her last batch several years ago.
Always a pretty girl and a great mom.  Love you Pretty Dirty, you always deserved a better name but that was the one you stuck with.  Bright sunny days and happy hunting, we will miss you.

  1. That is such saddening news...I love Miss Dirty Nose as you know. I didn't see her last time I was out there but felt her spirit in the barn she loved. She had a great life, she brought much joy and love to you on your daily errand of feeding. Rest in peace sweet friend. Hey, if we get all of our pets back in the next life, you are going to have a ton of love waiting for you, that's exciting, can you just imagine Sweet Pea trotting up with Max, Jake, Booner and Dirty Nose right beside her, and all the others too! What a great sight that will be. Love you tons
